About Me I’ve been riding BMW motorcycles for 10 years. In fact, BMW’s were my first road bikes. I had an enduro bike as kid, but I never got my license, even though I ran the bike up and down the roads in the neighborhood. Life was so different in the 1980’s. My MOA membership number is 80707, and I joined in December of 1997. My first issue of the Owner News was the tribute to Don Douglass. Kind of depressing issue to get as your first one, but it seems Don brought our club to a new level during his time with the MOA. After years of getting to know many of you in the club, I understand why he was so endeared as a member and the editor or the Owners News. In 2002, I upgraded my membership to a Lifetime Membership. I thought a I was doing a good thing showing my support for the club by making such a commitment. You can say I was surprised at the January 2008 MOA Board meeting when the Board explained why they we’re ending Lifetime memberships. Although completely understandable. I now live in Omaha metro area of Nebraska. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, I have lived in Oklahoma for most of my life. Althought there was a short stint during my college years (and many days of riding later on) in Arkansas at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. I’m not a HOG (Harley Owner? Me?), but rather a Razorback. And a few years back, life lead me here to Omaha. My wife, Allison and I got married at Lake Tahoe on the way home from the MOA International Rally at Spokane, WA in 2004. It’s kind a funny (at least me to but not her) in that if the rally is scheduled just right, we can spend our anniversary at the MOA International Rally. Okay, hind sight, I wouldn’t make that mistake again with dates. I now understand why my Mom gets so mad at my Dad about their anniversary, which is only five days later than ours. Needless to say, I’m glad I met Allison and glad she was willing to learn how to ride. While in Oklahoma City, it was bad enough I lost a riding a partner (my father) due to distance (he lives near Bartlesville). But coming to Omaha and marrying Allison, I found a new riding partner that I hope to never loose. |
